Caprice Holdings has a portfolio of some of London’s best restaurants, and 34 Restaurant, located just off Grosvenor Square in Mayfair is no exception.
34 Restaurant was the group’s first restaurant launch and now sits alongside salubrious names such as The Ivy, J Sheekey’s and Scott’s, one of my London favourites.
An evening at 34 Restaurant is magical – from the moment you walk up the steps and are greeted by the doorman, you get a sense of the occasion waiting for you on the other side of the door. Walking in to the restaurant, you instantly know that you have arrived somewhere special.
34 Restaurant radiates glamour, class and an old-fashioned charm that is truly enchanting – the sight of the baby grand piano in the corner next to the bar and the sound of the live jazz only compounds this feeling further.
Sitting at the bar with a Martini while tapping your toes to the music, you really do feel that you have been transported back in time. But no: you’re in London and about to have dinner in one of its finest establishments.
The menu at 34 specialises in meats and seasonal game but also offers lighter dishes, fish and shellfish. But you come to 34 for the meat: a selection of beef from Australia, USA and Argentina, as well as a celebrated hamburger. You should also visit 34 for the onion rings.
Desserts at 34 are rather interesting, including a Negroni chocolate torte with blood orange sherbet, Golden pineapple with mojito sorbet, Jasmine rice pudding with mango and Cru Virunga chocolate and Turkish delight bombe.
The 100-cover restaurant was designed by Martin Brudnizki in a classic, timelessly elegant style. Very few restaurants make you feel as special as 34 – the food, service and atmosphere are truly heavenly.

The onion tart with sweetbreads, onion rings and slow braised short ribs are TOO good. Just make sure to leave room for the Vacherine or Butterscotch Sponge Pudding to share.
Sounds like you really enjoyed! Looking forward to trying it for myself.
