There are many interesting events and collaborations popping up in London this summer and here’s Bon Vivant’s selection of the best on offer.
The Fringe
Popping up just metres from the Olympic stadium from 20 July to 9 September, The Fringe is a private members’ club based in a Victorian warehouse on the river. The space will feature four floors of restaurants, bars, lounges, private suites, workspaces and broadcasting areas. Day memberships are available from £50.
The Retreat
The Brewery in East London will host a pop-up over the summer called ‘The Retreat’, just 5 minutes from Liverpool Street Station.
Daily membership is available from £294, which will include all the live action on big screens, unlimited fine food and drinks (After 9pm drinks in The Club only are charged on a cash basis), evening entertainment with presenters, personalities, music and bands, free wifi, pampering area for massages, manicures and treatments, and a nightclub until 2am.
Forman’s Fish Island
Forman’s Restaurant have teamed up with Ronnie Scott’s and Maddox Club for 17 night during the summer to offer a pop-up experience just 100m from all the action. The Forman’s Fish Island Riviera is a beach club with palm trees, beach volleyball and cocktails from the Maddox Club beach bar, with the cocktails provided by X.B. The beach club is open from 11:30am until 2am and entry is £25.
You can also see an art exhibition, In the Rings with Ali, featuring photographs, memorabilia, audio and video installations, text and poetry in celebration of boxer Mohammad Ali who celebrated his 70th birthday this year.
Breakfast packages from £75, lunch from £150 and dinner from £225.
Waterside House
Waterside House London is a pop-up venue offering a lounge, a la carte restaurant and club, which will also include a private 65 metre beach with day beds. Waterside House is located in the London Pleasure Gardens on the water’s edge opposite ExCel London, and will be open from 12pm to 3am daily.
The Cube by Electrolux
Positioned on top of the Royal Festival Hall, The Cube offers incredible views of London with great food to match. Michelin starred chefs including Sat Bains, Claude Bosi and Tom Kitchin, will present a unique menu using locally sourced ingredients. Serving a minimum of five courses, dishes will be accompanied by matching wines and “unique sound and light concepts”.
The Cube seats 18 around one table, allowing guests to watch the meal being prepared in an open plan kitchen. Tickets are priced at £175 per person for lunch and £215 for dinner. The Cube by Electrolux will run until 30 September 2012. To book a table or find out more, click here.
