Bon Vivant recently jetted in to the South of France to spend a splendid afternoon at Hotel Crillon le Brave. The hotel was initially founded as a boutique eleven bedroom marvel in the Provençal hamlet of Crillon le Brave.
It has since acquired six further properties and now offers a luxurious thirty-two bedroom hotel, complete with restaurant, bar, outdoor heated pool, mini spa, boules court, along with numerous exquisitely landscaped terraced gardens.
The hotel’s setting, afoot the imposing 6,000ft Mont Ventoux, is simply breathtaking. Perched on a hill overlooking symmetrical vineyards and acres of uniform lavender fields, you could gaze into the distance for hours whilst sampling the extensive wine list.
Bistrot 40K, the hotel’s new restaurant, takes its name from the radius from which the local produce is sourced.
Head chef Jerome Blanchet has created a menu of simplicity and freshness with dishes including trout fillet from the river Sorgue, complimented with a light almond crust and white asparagus from Mazan; and caramelised pork chop from Mont Ventoux with lavender honey and spelt risotto from Sault.
The hotel’s La Grange bar and terrace offers guests a delightfully spacious and tasteful milieu in which to enjoy breakfast, lunch and drinks. A glass of crisp, chilled Beaumont du Ventoux rose on the terrace is highly recommended.
