New Luxury Hotels for 2014

2014 will be a year of focusing on travel experiences at Bon Vivant – here is a selection of new luxury hotels opening during the end of 2013 and into 2014 and beyond.

L’Apogée Courchevel

The latest Oetker Collection hotel (others in the collection include Le Bristol in Paris, Palais Namaskar in Marrakech and Hotel du Cap Eden Roc in Cap d’Antibes) opened in Courchevel on 11/12/13.

The 55 bedroom L’Apogée features a four bedroom penthouse covering the entire top floor of the hotel, an exclusive five bedroom chalet and a Sisley Spa. In a ski resort with some excellent hotels, L’Apogee raises the bar even further.

Le Grand Bellevue, Gstaad

Set in Gstaad village, the 57-room Le Grand Bellevue has the welcoming feel of a country house hotel.

The restaurant, Leonards, offers bistro-style cuisine from Michelin-starred chef, Urs Gschwend, and the Art Deco Bar has a dramatic doomed roof and a 17 metre custom-made Chesterfield.

Other highlights include a wine cellar, cigar lounge, private cinema and a 2,500sqm Spa works in partnership with Bamford and Cellcosmet.

Butterfly House Bahia, Northern Brazil

The Butterfly House Bahia is a secluded beach side eco-resort in the Maraú Peninsula in Northern Brazil.

The Butterfly House Bahia features eight eclectically designed villas with a 50km sandy beach on one side and Camamu Bay (Brazil’s third largest lake) on the other.

Alila Jabal Akhdar, Oman

Alila Jabal Akhdar will open in March 2014 as the first luxury resort in the mountainous area of Jabal Akhdar in Oman, set 2000 metres above sea level and a two hour drive from Muscat.

Overlooking a dramatic gorge and with views of the Hajar mountains, Alila Jabal Akhdar will be ideally for adventure travellers and nature lovers to explore the region’s rugged landscapes.

Loews Regency, New York

Based in Midtown Manhattan, The Loews Regency will re-open in January following a $100 million renovation.

The Loews Regency has 379 renovated guest rooms including 58 suites. If you travel with your pets, they’ll be well looked after here with a special pet room service menus, pet sitting and walking services!

The Lord Crewe Arms

In partnership with Calcot Hotels, The Lord Crewe Arms will re-open in March 2014 in Blanchland, as a 21 bedroom country hotel and pub. The head chef will be Simon Hicks – previously Head Chef at Hix Soho – and bedroom rates will start at £140 per night.

Godfrey Hotel

The 16-story boutique Godfrey Hotel will open in Chicago in February 2014 with 189 rooms and 39 suites, and a 10,000 square-foot rooftop bar and lounge called the IO Urban Roofscape.

Kandolhu Island, Maldives

Kandolhu Island launches on 15 January 2014 as a small island surrounded by a coral garden in North Ari Atoll, 20 minutes by seaplane from Male airport.

The resort will feature 30 Villas scattered around the island on the beach with sea views or set over the water with direct access to the Indian Ocean.

ME Ibiza

Following this year’s launch of ME London, the brand will open the ME Ibiza in June 2014, ready for the summer season.

The hotel is located on a bay in Santa Eulalia next to the new Nikki Beach Ibiza beach club, with 200 guest room. Click here to read our guide to Ibiza’s hotspots.

The Hoxton Holborn

The Hoxton Hotel in Shoreditch is heading to High Holborn (not too far from the new Rosewood London), where the second hotel in the series, the Hoxton Holborn, will open its doors in June 2014 with 174 bedrooms over five floors.

The Hoxton Holborn’s public spaces will be run by The Soho House group, with an outlet of the popular Hoxton Grill and Chicken Shop serving rotisserie chicken in the basement.

Park Hyatt New York

Hyatt Hotels will open its first luxury hotel in New York in 2014, designed by world-renowned architect Christian de Portzamparc. The 210-room hotel will be located at 157 West 57th Street between Avenue of the Americas and Seventh Avenue, across from Carnegie Hall.

The Mandarin Oriental Marrakech

Mandarin Oriental Marrakech is due to open late 2014 in the Palmeraie with 54 individual villas/riads within walled gardens with private pools and  7 suites in the main building with their own rooftop pools and panoramic views of the gardens.

Ham Yard Hotel

Firmdale Hotels will open its eighth London property, Ham Yard Hotel, in May 2014. The hotel will feature 90 bedrooms and 24 residential apartments, with 13 specialist retail stores, a 176 seat theatre/cinema with stage and a four-lane 1950s Texan bowling alley with bar, lounge and dance floor.

Four Seasons Hotel Moscow

Situated next to Red Square, with views of the Kremlin, the Four Seasons Hotel Moscow will open mid 2014 with 175 guest rooms, including 36 suites.
