The Month Ahead – March's New Openings and Events

Read on for a summary of the new openings to keep on your radar for the month ahead in London. From the rebirth of a 2 Michelin-starred restaurant in Knightsbridge to one of Soho’s best heading East, read on for March’s new openings.

MARCUS

Knightsbridge

Two Michelin-starred restaurant Marcus Wareing at The Berkeley closed in January for a full refurbishment. The restaurant will return on 24 March as MARCUS, with a more modern look to match the evolving cuisine over the last 10 years.

One Kensington

Kensington

Overlooking Kensington palace gardens, this venture from the Tamarind Collection will open in March, with Massimiliano Blasone, previously of Apsley’s, heading up the kitchen. One Kensington will be open for lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, cocktails and late dining.

8 Hoxton Square

Shoreditch

From the team behind 10 Greek Street in Soho (which was one of our best new restaurants of 2012) comes 8 Hoxton Square in Shoreditch. Expect a very similar approach to the food and wine, but set in Hoxton.

Bravas

St Katharine Dock

Chef Victor Garvey is heading Bravas, a new contemporary Spanish tapas restaurant in St Katharine Dock. Expect a creative tapas menu that can be paired with Spanish wines, sangria or Spanish-inspired cocktails.

There is a spacious terrace so you can enjoy these Mediterranean delights basking in the sun (hopefully…) during the summer months.

Sherry and Tapas Masterclass

At Ametsa

On Tuesday 18th March, Ametsa at The Halkin Hotel, will be hosting ‘Sherry Amor’, a Sherry masterclass led by their Head Sommelier Alvaro Prieto, exploring the history of sherry and its different varieties.

A total of five sherries will be provided for tasting during the session, matched with a light menu of five tapas dishes. The evening begins at 6.30pm and is priced at £30 per person.

Marani

Mayfair

Marani, a traditional Georgian restaurant will open on Mayfair’s Curzon Street on 3rd March.

The restaurant was paintained by hand by Georgian artist Tamara Kvesitadze, while chef Tekuna Gachechiladze will offer “supra” feasts and showcase a lighter, contemporary style of Georgian food.

Workshop Coffee Co.

Holborn

Introducing the third edition of Workshop Coffee Co. located in Holborn, promoting sustainable and freshly roasted coffee, with a private coffee room for meetings and events with its own personal barista. Visit for some of London’s best coffee.

Stargazing and Cocktails

At Coq d’Argent

Why not follow the likes of Galileo and become an astronomer (or near enough) for the evening? The SKYLINER-200P telescope has set up home on Coq d’Argent’s terrace until the end of March.

Savour specially created stargazing cocktails whilst gazing at the moon and Jupiter. Try the Meteor Shower cocktail, it is out of this world…

The Fable Bar & Restaurant

Farringdon

Launched in February, The Fable Bar & Restaurant on Holborn Viaduct is the latest venture from the group behind The Folly and The Anthologist.

Like walking into an enchanted land, The Fable has fairytale-inspired decorative quirks wherever you look. Complete with a restaurant, bar, deli and florist, The Fable offers seasonal cuisine, cocktails and  masterclasses.

Roka Mayfair

Roka Mayfair, the latest of the Roka restaurants, opened its doors in February on North Audley Street serving contemporary Japanese Robatayaki cuisine.

With the Robata grill as the central design element, the extensive menu by executive chef Hamish Brown has signature dishes such as lamb cutlets with Korean spices alongside expertly prepared sushi and sashimi.

Polpetto

Soho

February saw the return of Polpetto, the much-loved restaurant previously located on Dean Street, with Florence Knight at the helm.

Now located on Berwick Street, Florence is set to impress once again with her cuisine’s signature seasonality and simplicity.
