New Restaurant Openings and Events – October 2015

A new casual restaurant from the owners of Gymkhana, a Sexy Fish comes to Mayfair, Dishoom expands into Soho and much more.

Hoppers

The Sethi siblings – Karam, Jyotin and Sunaina – that are behind the acclaimed Indian restaurants Gymkhana and Trishna, are launching their latest restaurant, Hoppers, this month.

The restaurant, one of their smallest (seating around 40), is said to be inspired by the roadside shacks of Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka that serve hoppers and dosas.

Hoppers are a thin, bowl shaped pancake made with fermented rice batter and coconut milk. These South Asian staples will be dished up with a choice of meat, seafood or vegetable kari and a selection of sambols and chutneys made with freshly ground coconut.

Sexy Fish

Sexy Fish is the new, Asian, fish and seafood restaurant from Caprice Holdings. The restaurant opens on 19 October in Berkeley Square and will pair contemporary cuisine with cutting-edge art and design to create ‘a dynamic new dining experience’.

The restaurant will seat 190 with a private dining space on the lower level for up to 48 guests.

68 and Boston

68 and Boston is a new bar in Soho created by three leading names in nightlife, wines and cocktails: Eric Yu of The Breakfast Group, Martin Malley, co-owner of Planet of the Grapes and Luca Cordiglieri, formerly bar manager at China Tang at The Dorchester.

The all-day-to-night wine bar will feature a list of quality wines, the late-night cocktail bar will offer classics and originals from £10, and a menu of bar food will also be available.

The House of Peroni

The House of Peroni will take up residency once again on Brick Lane this October. The month-long event will offer Michelin quality food and Peroni Nastro Azzurro infused cocktails in surroundings inspired by the Italian home, but where nothing will be quite as it seems.

A five-course private dining experience created by Michelin-starred, Sicilian chef, Accursio Craparo, will also be available.

Aqua Kyoto

To coincide with the Frieze Art Fair in October, Aqua Kyoto is launching their ‘Food as Art’ menu, which celebrates the artwork of three Japanese artists.

The menu is available Monday to Saturday at lunch and dinner (Friday and Saturday dinner only between 5.30-7.00pm).

The Haunting of Scarfes Bar

On Saturday 31st October, Scarfes Bar will be hosting its first Halloween party, whre the bar will be transformed in to a haunted manor house.

The evening will be hosted by international cabaret star Dusty Limits and will include entertainment from a contortionist, cabaret acts, acrobats and a jazz trio. Dressing in costume is welcomed and encouraged. Tickets are limited and £50.

Wazen

A new Japanese neighbourhood restaurant is set to open in King’s Cross next month.

Wazen, which means ‘Japanese table’ will bring Londoners an authentic Japanese experience, serving up high quality Japanese cuisine at a price that will ensure regular visits from both locals and Japanese food lovers alike.

DF Mexico

Created by the duo behind Wahaca, Thomasina Miers and Mark Selby, DF Mexico is inspired by their travels to Mexico City, New York and Chicago. The menu will offer freshly prepared dishes with a US influence when it opens min October.

Golden Week at Hakkasan

This autumn, Hakkasan will celebrate the annual Chinese holiday Golden Week between the 28th September and 18th October at its restaurants around the world.

Hakkasan Hanway Place and Hakkasan Mayfair in London will feature a limited edition signature menu, which includes new dishes that cater specifically to the traditional Chinese palate alongside a special cocktail and golden macarons.

Nanban

Former MasterChef champion Tim Anderson opens his first restaurant, Nanban, serving Japanese soul food.

Nanban, in Brixton, will be a combination izakaya and ramen shop where you can have quick bowl of noodles on your way home or stay a little longer and enjoy a range of dishes to share.

Dishoom

The fourth restaurant from the Dishoom team is set to open on Kingly Street in Soho this month. The restaurant will accommodate 196 diners with a further 38 seats in the courtyard and 20 in the Permit Room bar.

Parcafé at The Dorchester

Located next to The Dorchester’s Ballroom on Park Lane, this new coffee shop from the Dorchester will serve ‘the highest quality coffee, teas and fresh juices’ as well as morning pastries, fresh fruit, sandwiches, salads, cookies, cupcakes and home-made fudge.
